Canadian Olympic Trials Day 1 Prelims

The day has finally arrived every Canadian swimmer has been waiting for, the 2016 Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials. This event has been on the minds of the best Canadian swimmers since the 2012 Olympic Games completed. With the first session in the books, the swimming did not disappoint and finals shaping up to be an exciting one. The prelims was so fast records were broken in a few events this morning.

Ontario Records
Richard Funk - TSC - 100 Breast - 1:00.66 - OPEN
Warren Mayer - PICK - 100 Breast - 1:02.63 - 15-17

Also in the 100 Fly Penny broke the 15-17 Canadian Age Group Record and is in shooting distance of the Canadian Senior record of 57:27! This 15-year-old from Toronto has been on fire all season long and join the high performance center has done absolute wonders for Olekseiak.

Without question it will be an exciting night 1 of finals. My predictions for Gold look to be how the morning shaped up. In terms of Silver and Bronze… Well those spots will be a tough fight by many swimmers. So make sure to tune into CBC sports online as they will be running a LIVE stream. I have been watching raw footage of the time trials that have been going on at pool. It looks like CBC is doing tests making sure camera angles and sound quality are perfect. So make sure to tune in at 6:45 pm for the pre show and finals get underway at 7 pm.
